Worthgate Feature in Scouting Magazine and Grab Front Cover!
4th June 2015

Back in February, 2 Scouts and 3 Beavers from Worthgate, Canterbury took a trip to Baden Powell House in London to review some new charity partner resources/activities as part of the Scout Association's, A Million Hands Campaign.
After their journey on the train and tube, they arrived at BP House in Kensington.
The young people were treated with juice and biscuits before they were introduced
to the Community Impact team as well as the other young people in attendance.
The young people tried 4 different activities each aimed at their age groups -
from thinking about looking after our minds, to trying to write whilst
blindfolded, to thinking about how to keep water clean.
They were then treated to a 'posh' lunch (as the young people called it) with 'tiny
sandwiches' but with good cakes for pudding.
The young people thoroughly enjoyed the day and one of the Beavers - Ben - even invented a new game (a bit like dodgeball, but dodge the germ for Wateraid) which the group of Beavers played amongst themselves and were also joined by Hannah Kentish (UK Youth Commissioner).
The day was a great opportunity for the young people to lead the decisions
being made whilst being supported by the community impact team, it was a
priveledge for our Scouts and Beavers to be given the opportunity to contribute
to National Scouting.
A Million Hands is about mobilising half a million Scouts to support four big
social issues chosen by young people and build long term relationships in
communities.
Imagine what we could achieved if we rallied behind the same causes.
• Improving the lives of those affected by dementia with
Alzheimer’s Society
• Improving the lives of those disabled by society with
Leonard Cheshire Disability and Guide Dogs
• Improving mental wellbeing and resilience with Mind
• Ensuring everyone, everywhere has access to clean water and
sanitation with WaterAid
